About me
For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep longing to know the truth of who I am.
Who am I beyond the labels other caste onto me? Who am I beyond profession, beyond skill, beyond image, and beyond all I think I am? What if beyond this perception of ‘Me’, there lives ‘another Me’, that is actually who I am?
Music has been part of my inner expression nearly my entire life. But, something slowly starting feeling… empty. Void. Desolate. Suddenly, life felt like something I was ‘performing’ rather than taking an active part in. Then, everything changed as I embarked on a one way ticket to India.
Through extreme challenge, questioning, and ongoing formal studies, I knew the purpose of this life was to help connect people with the truth of who they are. And this has been the mission ever since.
Through being an emptier and emptier instrument, I use the harmonium, trumpet, voice, and written/spoken word to facilitate experiences for people to connect with their innermost Divinity, just as I had the blessings to experience through Bharat’s grace.
As a harmonium player and singer, the heart of what I facilitate is Kirtan, the ancient science of call and response chanting from India. As Krishna Das says, this is the process of “falling in love with love”; getting to move beyond the business of the mind and drop into the core of who we are. I’ve been privileged to do so in Boston, Rishikesh, New Delhi, and Kolkata. On top of this, I facilitate asana and pranayama classes and various children’s programs.
As an educator of 11 years, the core of what classes and lessons are taught from is using sound to connect students with the deeper aspects of who they are. Helping them grow as a person beyond just the sound. The vedas even say that music is one of the highest forms of expression of the divine – how wonderful is this! I have been blessed to teach students through my travels in the US, Kenya, India, and Nepal, along from other cultures and countries.
The approach lessons are taught from rest on four pillars: mindful focus (through breathwork, posture, and learning how to filter out distractions), high-quality music learning, introspection, and service to others. Through these pillars, we explore vital questions together: What does it mean to maintain a steady mind? How do we practice such? How do I show up in success and failure? What can I learn about myself through consistent, diligent practice (sadhana)? Various mindfulness practices and Sanatan Dharma (ancient wisdom) philosophy are the base of getting here with the modern student, helping them actualize this beautiful ancient science in their own lives. We’re here to let these students plant their seeds, and allow them to bloom into the tree or flower their sapling contains—and we’re here to promote this and encourage this within themselves.
It is deeply important to me that these sound experiences and teachings remain deeply rooted in tradition and culture. I have been engaged in ongoing study of raga, and bhajan from my teacher in Kolkata since 2026. I’ve also been blessed in ongoing study of Sanatan Dharma through the Ramakrishna Mission University (RMKEVRI) at Belur Math, Kolkata. I also hold a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in traditional Hatha Yoga from Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh.
This path continues to reveal itself to me. I am humbled and deeply blessed to continue learning from teachers and mentors that continue to humbly and lovingly ‘guide me back to ‘Myself”. It is this hope that lives on for all those I get to work with.
